ASIS announces ASIS 2010 Accolades awards

Jumbi Edulbehram, vice president of NLSS, commented in a Homeland Security NewsWire interview on the company’s reception of the ASIS 10 accolade. “We were thrilled to receive the award. With the NLSS Gateway being our first product, I would say we were a little surprised since the competition was very good. All the technology our product encompasses already existed, but what we’ve done here is integrate everything from the ground up and simplify the installation, maintenance, and accessibility of the secure network.”

Its features are accessible and controllable from anywhere through a Web browser and it includes advanced deployment tools such as auto-discovery, auto-provisioning and configuration back-up. The product provides its users with a comprehensive view of their security operations. Next Level Security Systems has also been awarded the ESX Maximum Impact Award: Best Overall and Best Service: Integrated Security Solutions

There are two prevailing trends in the network security industry: the first having to do with the migration toward Internet protocol (IP) videos and the second has to do with the ergonomics of the technology. Edulbehram focused in on these trends and focused on simplicity: “We’ve found that many products these days have inordinately complicated pricing systems whether through buying servers, licensing video streams, etc. We’ve simply taken all those pricing factors away by creating a well-packaged device.”

Edulbehram expects the show to improve from last year’s, which he believes was focused on end-customers that were not interested in investing in new security technologies because of the economic recession.“I think that’s about to change and that a lot of end-customers are really going to be out there looking for new solutions.”

Cross Match Technologies, a provider of interoperable biometric identity management systems, applications, and services was awarded the ASIS 10 accolade for the SEEK II with MOBS and Matching product, a comprehensive biometric identity management solution. Mike Oehler, vice president of product management, mobile biometrics, commented in an interview with Homeland Security NewsWire on the significance of winning the award: “This award really acknowledges that biometrics has a front and center role in security. It’s no longer just car keys and passwords—biometrics is really becoming a veritable pantheon of technology.”

SEEK II features multi-modal biometric enrollment and the matching platform captures and matches identities using fingerprints, irises, and facial images. Their handheld database is capable of storing up to 120,000 biometric identities and communicating remotely through WiFi, 3G, and SATCOM. Oehler spoke of the corollary between most fixed biometric capture devices and the industry trend to integrate these technologies into mobile devices. Cross Match has also received the Network Products Guide 2010 Best Products and Services Award in Biometrics.

In terms of the conference itself, Oehler looks forward to seeing other products and experiencing ASIS’ reputed portfolio of featured seminars and exhibits. “ASIS has the reputation for the show where every company puts their best foot forward and features their latest and greatest products. Tracking technology

Canadan company Laipac Technology specializes in the designing and production of real time GPS location and tracking products. The company was awarded the ASIS 10 accolade for its S-911 Bracelet Locator, a multi-purpose quad-band GSM bracelet tracker design based on the application requirement from law enforcement agencies and health authorities. Mark Rodrigues, marketing and sales manager said the award “highlights Laipac’s continued innovation in developing world class GPS tracking devices.”

It features voice and data communications, motion senor, tamper detection, power saving, data encryption with a water resistant enclosure, and built in LCD display. Further applications include child protection, law enforcement, home arrest, parole monitoring, lone worker protection, elderly care and Alzheimer care. In anticipation of the conference, Rodrigues commented that he looks forward to the ASIS show in that it “will enable Laipac to be part of an industry of security professional‘s that will aim to foster new business solutions.”
