Avamar is selected as a principal partner in Sun’s Partner Advantage Program

Irvine, California-based Avamar Technologies announced that it has been selected to be a principal partner in Sun Microsystems’ Sun Partner Advantage Program. The Santa Clara, California-based technology giant created the program to Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) developing applications for porting applications to the Sun platform. Avamar is an enterprise data software provider for medium-sized to large business organizations. Of course this type of deal gives Avamar more exposure, but, the real benefits are for the customer who now has more of a choice in the technology, which is pre-tested, and provided by Sun through its partnerships. This type of partnership also provides the investment protection, and a reduced total cost of ownership. The customer is also certain of quality service because in order to achieve principal partner status, Avamar was required to meet strict criteria for excellence as a supplier of data backup and replication solutions, and by committing to tight strategic and technical alignment with Sun. Avamar’s patented data de-duplication software moves and stores only the unique changes to data across enterprise systems, thereby reducing backup times, network utilization, and overall storage management challenges.
