Bioterrorism Act mandates registration of fish and shell fish

The 2002 act also requires registration of fish and shell fish caught in the wild; now, there’s a challenge (how do you register shrimp?)

By mid-2006 farm-raised and wild-catch fish/shellfish operators who receive, hold, and ship raw or processed fish/shellfish products will also be required to register their facilities and supply complete trace-back and traceability records for all their products. These requirements are mandated by the FDA through the Bioterrorism Act of 2002, as well as the EU Directive 2002/991EC and Directive 91/493/ECC, and apply to all facilities wherever food commodities and fish/shellfish are received, cleaned, stored, blended, processed, and reshipped, and all associated records.
