Company, a manufacturer of digital surveillance and detection solutions, chooses the fomer LAPD chief as its new head

He certainly is a man with video experience. Best known as the Los Angeles police chief during the heady days of the Rodney King beating and subsequent trial and riot, Daryl Gates is now president of City of Industry, California-based Global ePoint. Gates’s post LAPD career has not been the most inspiring — he featured in a video game called Police Quest 4: Open Season and served a brief tenure as a radio talk show host — but there can be little doubt about his policing bona fides. Prior to Global ePoint appointment, Gates served on the company’s Board and was chairman of Global Airworks, a wholly owned subsidiary of Global ePoint.
