This year Reed Exhibitions is going hi-tech for its ISC West security conference. The show’s organizers have developed a special mobile app and other technological changes to make this year’s show more convenient for attendees.

With more than 800 companies exhibiting tens of thousands of products and dozens of educational sessions, navigating the packed showroom floor and getting face time can be a daunting task, but thanks to a new mobile app, attendees can schedule meetings ahead of time, find where they are on the floor, and keep track of the companies they want to visit.

In addition the app allows users to filter exhibitors by product category or segment, search for products or conferences by keyword, and map the best routes across the two football field-sized exhibition floor.

Companies like Flir Systems, IDenticard Systems, and Pelco will be on hand to showcase their latest products in access control, biometrics, and remote monitoring. But with so many major firms on hand like Axis and Honeywell, smaller startups often get lost in the shuffle, so this year ISC West has created a special area to showcase 125 emerging businesses with innovative products.

Aside from the exhibitors, the show will also feature educational sessions designed to keep security professionals abreast of the latest issues affecting their industry. Speakers will include government officials, corporate leaders, and education experts.

For instance in one session, titled “Networks: Supersize the Value of This Key Technology,” a panel of three experts will discuss the key elements of proper infrastructure design for data networks in light of the rapidly expanding use of Internet-enabled portable devices.

In 2015, it is estimated that there will be more than one trillion connected devices. Given the rapid growth and constant evolution of technology, the experts will discuss proper design principles to ensure longevity in a turbulent market.

Furthermore to help tailor the education program for specific professions, 27 March has been designated as a Specialty Programming Day where all sessions have been divided into four categories – dealer, installer, integrator, and end-user.

The three day ISC West conference will take begin on 28 March and run through 30 March at the Sands Expo & Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
