As a result of the devastating natural disasters last year, businesses around the world have begun to take data recovery far more seriously.

Based on data from the 2012 Acronis Global Disaster Recovery Index, companies feel more confident about their data recovery and backup systems. 14 percent of respondents said they are more assured thanks to improvements in technology and resources.

In addition two-thirds of those surveyed said they check their plans with more regularity.

The survey findings suggest that the natural disasters of 2011 have been a catalyst for positive change when it comes to most businesses testing their backup and DR operations,” said Karl Sice, the general manager for Acronis Pacific.

Even with the raised awareness, 47 percent of those implementing data recovery plans feel like they do not have the support of business executives and 70 percent said hybrid environments were their biggest challenge.
