Kenya, Somalia to create joint anti-terrorism task force

General Yusuf Hussein Dhumal, who commanded the Somali military under the transitional Federal Government, has proposed the establishment of a joint East African paramilitary force with jurisdiction throughout the region. “This force would respond to emergency situations that cannot be solved by one country [alone],” Dhumal said. Dhumal propose that the joint force would be tasked exclusively with combating acts of terrorism and should enlist the expertise of Germany, the United States, and other countries with familiarity in fighting and monitoring terrorism.
