The State Department prepares to get its first funds to tackle Russian meddling in U.S. politics as U.S. intelligence warns that its interference in American elections continues. Funding for the mission is finally expected to arrive in coming days as an agreement to transfer $40 million from the Defense Department is expected this week, more than doubling its current budget of $35 million.

On Feb. 8, 11 U.K. Members of Parliament came to Washington to grill witnesses from U.S.-based technology companies as part of a inquiry into “fake news” by the Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Committee. Over four hours, the MPs questioned representatives from Google, YouTube, Facebook and Twitter on malicious content and activity on the tech companies’ platforms.
