On Wednesday Envisage Technologies announced that it was working with the Indiana Department of Homeland Security (IDHS) to implement the third phase of its state-wide readiness strategy.

Envisage will expand its Acadis Readiness Suite, an integrated software tool that automates complex logistical tasks that normally require a host of various databases, software, and systems, to include secure certification of users.

As part of the third phase, Envisage will customize and expand the readiness suite to automate Indiana’s existing paper-based system for collecting, validating, and processing the state’s resources including personnel, vehicles, and equipment.

State officials say that the added software capabilities will help agencies more accurately assess resource needs and respond more quickly in emergencies.

Automating our provider and resource certification process saves us significant time and money, and also helps us better serve our first responders. Additionally, this is another crucial step in providing vital response capability information including which personnel, EMS providers and vehicles are certified as ready for deployment in the case of emergency,” said Jason D. Hutchens, Director of Planning and Assessment for IDHS.

In 2005, Indiana consolidated all of its emergency management and homeland security agencies in one department. To handle the increasingly complex task of organizing and training all emergency managers, firemen, medical teams, and hazardous materials teams, the IDHS Training Division began using the Acadis Readiness Suite.

In a statement regarding the announcement, Ari Vidali, the CEO of Envisage Technologies, said, “[IDHS’s] visionary approach includes a fundamental understanding of the value of data-driven strategies for public safety. Together we have crafted a vision and implementation strategy for state-wide pervasive readiness that is both practical to implement and will significantly enhances the State’s ability to measure Readiness and respond effectively to an emergency.”

The project is funded with DHS grants.
