BiometricsFaking a fingerprint

A tech blogger argues there is no such thing as fingerprint reader that cannot be fooled; as proof, he offers several videos showing different techniques for faking readers
A ZDNet.UK blogger argues that there is no fingerprint sensor that cannot be tricked by artificial fingerprints. The prove his point, he compiled a few available videos which show how it can be done. Here are some of them:
- Karen Friar has sent a link to Dialogue Box video
- This one gets the same result with some other tools and materials
- The blooger say he personally loves this one
- This one is really interesting for those who understand. They trick a Upek swipe-type capacitive sensor with a piece of wet paper
- One more crack of Digital Persona with gelly fingers (in German)
The blogger says I he is not against using biometrics: He says that it should just be used in the right place and that it should “be called by the right name — not security provider, but security assistant.”
