Thermal imaging specialist finds its cameras in demand at U.S. airports; cameras are suitable for securing the long perimeters typically associated with major airports

Wilsonville, Oregon-based FLIR Systems(NASDAQ: FLIR) has received several awards totaling $2 million during 2007 to supply thermal security cameras to airports around the United States. FLIR’s thermal and multi-sensor security cameras were selected for installation at major airports throughout the country, including Dallas-Ft. Worth, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, and the New York area’s four major airports — Kennedy, LaGuardia, Newark and Teterboro. The installations are part of DHS’s domestic airport Perimeter Intrusion Detection initiative. FLIR’s thermal security cameras are suitable for securing the long perimeters typically associated with major airports. Their performance features enable them to see intruders at night without expensive and intrusive lighting infrastructure making them flexible and effective airport security tools. “These orders demonstrate the utility of our systems for high-value asset protection applications,” said Earl Lewis, president and CEO of FLIR. “We are pleased DHS and airports around the U.S. have chosen FLIR products for this important responsibility.”
