G&D selects SafeNet HSM
German smart-card maker selects security solution from IT security giant SafeNet to enhance security of its products
Munich, Germany-based Giesecke & Devrient (G&D), a leading global supplier
of smart cards, has selected Hardware Security Modules (HSMs) from Belcamp, Maryland-based SafeNet (NASDAQ: SFNT) for its cryptography needs, including
smart card production, personalization, and key management. SafeNet HSM is a PCI adapter-based HSM which provides secure cryptographic processing in
server systems and supports applications requiring symmetric and asymmetric
cryptographic operations.
G&D will integrate the HSM’s smart card cryptographic key transfer into its
security solutions, saying that this will allow it to offer a high level of secrecy and integrity of keys and sensitive data for its customers. G&D
has customers in telecommunications, electronic payments, transportation,
health care, identity, and IT security.
