HISS Cyber Tracker goes solar

GPS vehicle tracking and monitoring system no longer requires a dedicated power source; improvement expands company’s access to the RV market, among others; full production expected by the end of the year

Our loyal readers are well aware of our effection for Ashville, North Carolina-based Homeland Integrated Security Systems (HISS — an unfortunate acronym) and its flagship product the GPS-enabled Cyber Tracker. When we last reported on the company, it had recently installed the devices in school buses belonging to the Lake Shore Central School District in Erie County, New York. Yet with its wide range of sensor technologies, including those that can monitor a vehicle or container’s internal temperature and perform machine diagnostics, the Cyber Tracker is useful in keeping tabs on everything from cargo trailers to recreational vehicles.

Which brings us to the news of the day. Responding to increasing demand for its product on vehicles and other assets that have no independent power source, HISS has integrated a solar charging device into the Cyber Tracker system. Company officials are elated by the improvement. “The addition of the solar powered charging system to the Cyber Tracker opens a multitude of verticals for our product that have not been available to us in the past,” said HISS’s Tom Riley. “Our hope is to have a beta version ready for trial in 2nd quarter of this year with production shortly thereafter.”
