Hyatt to join Clear registered traveler program

Published 27 February 2006

Hyatt Hotels & Resorts has teamed up with Verified Identity Pass to offer frequent hotel customers complimentary Clear registered traveler program membership. Clear — which has 16,000 members — enables registered travelers to move faster through security lines at Orlando International Airport. Under terms of the deal, Hyatt would purchase traveler identification memberships for its Gold Passport Diamond Tier members. The Diamond Tier is for Hyatt customers with twenty-five stays or fifty nights at a Hyatt in a calendar year.

Clear has been operational since 19 July 2005 at Orlando International. Open to travelers at a fee of $79.95 a year, enrollees begin an application online at www.flyclear.com, then submit biometric data (fingerprint and iris images) at the ClearSpace enrollment stations in the airport. Once approved by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), members use the specially designated, “fast-pass” ClearLanes upon arrival at the airport’s security checkpoints. TSA announced it is allowing other airports to install registered traveler programs to launch this June.

San Jose International Airport and Indianapolis International Airport have chosen to launch the Clear system and are awaiting TSA approval.
