An important biometrics company received HSDP-12 compliance approval as 27 October HSDP0-12 deadline for government agencies and contractors nears

With the 27 October 2006 deadline for HSPD-12-mandated FIPS 201 compliance approaching fast, the National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) and the General Services Administration (GSA) continue to approve products and solutions as compliant, so government agencies and private contractors doing business with the government could purchase them before the deadline. The latest NIST approval goes to Minnetonka, Minnesota-based Identix Fingerprint Algorithm for MINEX, while the GSA approves Identix biometric offerings. These approvals now allow Identix to compete for Personal Identity Verification (PIV)-related purchases from all U.S. government agencies.

Identix (Nasdaq: IDNX) said that its AFIS-grade fingerprint algorithm matching technology offering, BioEngine 6, has been confirmed by the latest NIST testing report as meeting or exceeding all of the qualifications of the Minutiae Interoperability Exchange Test (MINEX). Identix also said that its TouchPrint Enhanced Definition Series of Live Scan offerings (which includes thirteen different products), and its facial quality assurance software for enrollment, have been approved by the GSA for use within any PIV program. The two certifications allow Identix to compete for federal agency biometric procurements associated with the implementation of HSPD12.
