No Z Backscatters needed as German tourist in the Philippines tries to expose the naked truth about airport security; charged with lewd behavior, he may spend six years in jail

When the Transportation Security Administration decided to review its decision to install American Science & Engineering’s Z- Backscatter X-ray machine, it did so out of concern that the scan was much more revealing than passengers would prefer and that aviation authorities believe necessary. What happens, however, if the passenger willfully and peremptorily exposes himself? That is the question under consideration in Manila, Philippines this week after an irritable German tourist dropped his pants before walking through a (traditional) X-ray machine. “He actually didn’t say much, unlike Filipino passengers who would talk a lot,” said police spokesman Atilano Morada. “He was clearly irked and he showed it by disrobing.” The passenger, Hans Jurgen Oskar von Naguschewski, was charged with lasciviousness and faces six months to six years in jail.
