ISC Solutions 2010ISC Solutions 2010, I: Solutions for real-world security challenges

Published 1 November 2010

ISC Solutions will open in New York on 3 November; formerly known as ISC East, the organizers say the change of name indicates a focus on showcasing best practice solutions which solve security challenges; ISC East was geared toward installing security contractors in the Northeast, and ISC Solutions, building on that history, now aims to offer a stage for manufacturers to present solutions and applications to end-user customers

The ISC Solutions, which will be held at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City on 3-4 November 2010, used to be called ISC East (Reed Exhibitions, the event’s producer, notes: “More than a name change. A game change”).

The company says that ISC East has evolved into ISC Solutions in response to the needs of security end-users, who expressed a desire for a show dedicated to showcasing best practice solutions which solve security challenges.

This is the sister event of ISC West, and the organizers say that ISC Solutions will focus on security product applications and solutions for products launched earlier in the year at ISC West. ISC Solutions is thus a new event that boasts a new floor layout, presentation theaters, and new networking opportunities

The organizers say that attendees should expect the very latest security products, technologies, and services — but also exciting demos, discussions, and insights to help end-users apply them in ways that help their organization. “This show is all about tackling challenges, solving specific problems — discovering solutions,” Reed says.

Security Sales reports that the event, under its previous name, was geared toward installing security contractors in the Northeast. It is now aiming to offer a stage for manufacturers to present solutions and applications to end-user customers. Ed Nichols, Reed’s Industry Vice President, told Security Sales: “It was critical that we reposition the ISC East event, updating it in order to continue to be relevant to the needs of the security industry…. As needs change and security challenges become more complex, a solutions-focused event that presents a wide array is even more critical.”

Nichols added that educational programming for security dealers and systems integrators will remain a focal point of ISC Solutions.

In the coming days we will discuss the sessions, panels, and demos in detail. Here are some of the event’s major features:

  • The paid curriculum includes: “Key Considerations for Healthcare Security and Access Control”; “The Essentials of Campus Safety & Security”; “Securing Critical Infrastructure, Government and Mass Transit Facilities”; and “Remote Video Monitoring: The Real Solution.”
  • End-users may choose from many free educational sessions that have been jointly developed with several partners. There will be two Solutions Theaters located in the center of the exhibit hall where speakers from the electronic security industry, law enforcement, security directors, and other security professionals will describe the main challenges and actionable strategies in various market niches.
  • There will be a Solutions at Work Case Study Forum, in which real-world examples of security systems and solutions will be presented. Several organizations from around the United States submitted proposals describing their security solutions in the health-care, education, government, and non-governmental vertical markets.
  • The floor plan has been redesigned. Exhibits will be segmented by technology/application type, with a centralized
