The IT sector is establishing a coordinating council to work with the industry and the federal government to protect critical infrastructure. The organization will be called the IT Sector Coordinating Council (IT-SCC), and the group aims to serve as a focal point for contact between other industries and the IT sector, according to its press release. “Critical infrastructure, including IT infrastructure, is largely owned and operated by the private sector, and it is essential that companies, government agencies and other stakeholders work in true partnership on the best strategies to protect against attack,” Harris N. Miller, president of the Information Technology Association of America (ITAA), said in a statement. The new council will work with the IT sector’s Information Sharing and Analysis Center (IT-ISAC) to facilitate information sharing between federal agencies, including DHS , and the IT sector. The council will have a “more strategic focus,” according to the ITAA release. It will work on corporate and management policies to prevent cyber-attack and physical attack.
