JMAR expands BioSentry sales efforts to Europe

Who says you cannot mix business with pleasure? Just look at San Diego-based JMAR Technologies (NASDAQ: JMAR), a developer of advanced laser technology. The company offers its BioSentry water-quality monitoring system, which is a laser-based system monitoring and detecting waterborne microorganisms in water delivery systems in real time. The system is essential for keeping a close eye on large water reservoirs for urban centers to prevent the breakout of disease as a result of natural or man-made contamination of the water supply. The system has other uses as well: All of our readers who like their Corona pure may recall that a leading Mexican brewery purchased BioSentry a few weeks ago to monitor the quality of the water used by the brewery in beer production.

Now, JMAR has just selected Guilford, Surrey, England-based ExcelFirst as the company’s new sales representative and distributor for the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Belgium.

ExcelFirst will focus its BioSentry sales efforts on the municipal water utilities market. ExcelFirst is a good choice: Robert Siaens, the managing director of ExcelFirst, brings more than fifteen years of direct experience in the water utilities industry. He was formerly chairman of the Gateshead, Tyne & Wear-based Institution of Water Officers (IW).
