MachineTalker’s sensor network technology to be deployed to oil refineries; applications include detecting problems in rotating equipment and identifying oil and gas leaks

Santa-Barbara-based MachineTalker (OTCBB: MTKN) is not a company that wants to be pigeonholed. Unlike other companies’ sensor networks, MachineTalker’s are not designed with any one industry in mind. This adaptability is a big advantage in the growing rush to use sensor technologies to manage and detect errors in manufacturing processes and port management, two of the company’s primary client bases.

Now the company can add the petroleum industry to its list. MachineTalker announced last week that it has finalized an OEM agreement with Santa Barbara neighbor Sense-Comm for sale to oil refineries. SenseComm, which also targets the power generation and water treatment industries, believes MachineTalker’s advanced sensor networks will be helpful in detecting problems in rotating equipment and sensing accidental emission of toxic or noxious gases from processing plants, among other uses.
