OMB sets 8 September deadline for HSPD-12 planning updates

Agencies to deatil and explain any changes to submitted plans; total number of background investigations completed a key factor

Even a willing horse occassionally needs to feel the whip. The White House has asked all federal agencies to provide updates on their HSPD-12 compliance by 8 September, a bit less than two months before the 27 October compliance deadline. The request from the the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) asks for details and explanations of any changes to previously submitted plans: “At a minimum, agencies will need to respond to questions on the number of background investigations they have planned for FY 2007 and FY 2008.” OMB will provide agencies with a written response, although no time frame was identified.
