Passlogix announces energy industry sales of 350,000

Three of the world’s largest energy companies are among those using the v-Go Sign-On Platform to manage passwords (and those who forget them.)

This may be the age of technology, but it is also the age of the password. Remembering and managing the dozens of passwords required to navigate daiily life is becoming more and more of a problem. Passlogix, a leading provider of enterprise single sign-on solutions, knows how we feel, and it knows that forgotten passwords and calls to the help desk cost businesses money every day. Yesterday the New York-based company announced that it had sold more that 350,000 licences for its v-Go Sign-On Platform to the energy industry alone, including to three of the largest companies. “The energy sector faces multiple challenges in controlling data access by employees, from the need to adhere to homeland security regulations to the fact that their distribution networks may extend from remote drill sites in isolated fields to platforms in the middle of the ocean,” said Passlogix CEO and president Marc Boroditsky.

Among the various benefits is a self-service reset of forgotten Windows passwords. For busy energy analysts, this alone is worth its weight in gold (or oil): each call to the help desk is estimated to cost $25-$40 in services and lost time. The platform is available in nine languages, including Japanese, Chinese, and Korean.
