ShotSpotter, Inc. and Intrado Inc. today announced the expansion of their partnership in delivering real-time acoustic surveillance and gunfire location alert and analysis services to public safety agencies. Intrado, a provider of 9-1-1 technology solutions, will host the ShotSpotter solution using its secure Intrado Co-location and Transport cloud service (I-CAT). ShotSpotter offers gunfire alert and analysis technology as a subscription-based service.

ShotSpotter is a certified partner in the Intrado A9-1-1SM Alliance Member Program, a managed service program designed to upgrade the capabilities of 9-1-1 emergency operations centers and public safety answering points (PSAPs) by delivering a broader set of features.

The agreement between the two companies calls for ShotSpotter to continue its commitment to interoperability with Intrado’s NG9-1-1 voice and data services. ShotSpotter says that by leveraging Intrado’s cloud infrastructure and secure network, it can deliver its advanced capabilities and features to 9-1-1 centers, PSAP operators and patrol officers.

“The valuable data generated by the ShotSpotter gunfire alert and analysis service is an ideal complement and showcase for the crime-fighting and life-saving value of our emergency services network,” said Joe Hernandez, senior vice president for Intrado. “We’re pleased to be able to continue to work in partnership with ShotSpotter to bring this leading technology solution to public safety agencies with the ultimate aim of protecting the security and vitality of communities and the quality of life for people.”

Alerts of crimes-in-progress involving gunfire detected by the ShotSpotter solution will be delivered in real time to 9-1-1 centers and PSAPs over Intrado’s emergency services Internet Protocol network.

ShotSpotter’s service includes reviewed alerts which provide instant review and assessment of gunshot incidents by trained gunshot experts. That information is delivered to 9-1-1 call-takers, dispatchers, and patrol officers who thus have actionable information to approach dangerous situations more safely. According to ShotSpotter data, the alerts also allow 9-1-1 centers and PSAPs to respond to the estimated 75-85 percent of gunfire cases in which residents do not call 9-1-1.

ShotSpotter is excited to expand our partnership with Intrado and values its leadership in next-generation 9-1-1 emergency communication services. A key initiative for ShotSpotter is to be a critical part of the new standard for the future of public safety and emergency response, and this partnership is clearly supporting that effort and helping keep communities and people safer,” said Ralph A. Clark, President & CEO of ShotSpotter. “The security and delivery of ShotSpotter data hosted through the Intrado network will help result in a greater number of illegal firearm confiscations, arrests and deterrence of criminal activity, and ultimately, helping reduce violent crime and gun crime.”
