Thanks to an additional $40 million in funding, IntegenX is close to creatinga real-time DNA analysis system.

The company is currently working to complete its RapidHIT 200 Human Identification System, a rapid DNA test kit that can provide law enforcement officials, government agencies, or forensic laboratories with real-time biometric identification.

The system is the first fully automated DNA identification test that is capable of creating DNA profiles from human samples in less than ninety minutes.

The company believes RapidHIT will be a great asset to law enforcement officials as individuals can be identified as soon as they are arrested or detained, making DNA an immediately actionable biometric. DNA samples currently take thirty days or more to process as they must be shipped to special laboratories equipped with highly trained technicians and sophisticated equipment.

The DNA system has already been tested and proven in multiple environments including the office, field, and laboratory. The company expects to be ready to sell RapidHIT across the world in the first half of 2012.
