Membership organization was synonomous with continuity in Britain; consultants and trainers lose a reliable revenue source

Sad news from the business continuity front. Survive, the UK-based business continuity membership organization known for holding conferences and “helping set the foundations for today’s widespread acceptance across all industry sectors,” has closed up shop. According to Continuity Central, the organziation last week began contacting attendees scheduled for upcoming events and courses to tell them the dates had been cancelled; soon afterwards a notice explaining the same appeared on the Survive Web site. (The site is now down altogether.) Survive’s demise may have additional consequences as well, because so many continuuity trainers and consultants in the UK relied on Survive’s courses for a substantial part of the earnings. Said the Continuity Shop, a reseller of Survive courses: “we have been telephoned and e-mailed by some of those who have booked on future Survive training courses and asked about the status of their bookings. We have been informed by Survive’s insolvency advisers … that none of these is likely to run.”
