Westlin, Zogmo offer dual data center IT continuity deal

Interest is growing in disaster communication continuity solutions, and two Texas companies join hands to offer a dual data center solution

There appears to be more interest in communication continuity during disasters (see last Wednesday’s story about TeleContinuity) — for a reason. For a while most of the attention to communication during and after disasters appeared to be focused on communication interoperability among emergency services. Now, interoperability is an important issue, but for the typical business communication continuity is more important that communication interoperability. We thus note that Montgomery, Texas-based Westlin Corporation and Houston, Texas-based Zogmo have joined hands to provide a dual data center solution for firms seeking IT continuity solutions. Zogmo operates a data center located in downtown Houston which has been directly connected to the Westlin Bunker site through private Ethernet connections. The Zogmo facility is connected to most of the major national carriers as well as Texas metro Ethernet carriers.

The combination of these two data centers offers U.S. companies a solution to locate geographically diverse data centers while providing a secure private multi-gigabit Ethernet solution among sites. The two companies say that this dual data center solution is suitable for Hurricane preparedness business continuity solutions as well as Sarbanes-Oxley, SAS70, and HIPPA compliance issues.

The companies, eager to attract clients, are offering special pricing for a limited time: Clients may have a dedicated cabinet in each data center with a private 50 Mbps VLAN between the cabinets and independent 1 Mbps Internet uplinks at each site for $2,499 per month.
