Tennessee drunk-driving Shaming Law ineffective

First time DUI offenders in Tennessee spend three 8-hour sessions picking-up litter along busy roads, while wearing a bright-colored vest which states, in bold letters, “I am a drunk driver.” Informally, the law is dubbed the Shaming Law. It was passed in order to humiliate these offenders, thus discouraging them from ever committing the crime again. State law enforcement agencies now say the law has proved ineffective.
