Contract won by Simplex Data Solutions will result in the deployment of hundreds of AirDefense wireless sensors; latter company flies high after receiving $14 million in second round funding

Atlanta, Georgia-based AirDefense announced yesterday that its wireless security products would be used by Leesburg, Virginia-based Simplex Data Solutions as part of the latter company’s efforts to complete a recently awarded Federal Aviation Administration contract to secure the agency’s local area networks (LANs). Simplex will install and configure several hundred Common Criteria (EAL2) certified AirDefense sensors throughout the United States. “Together, AirDefense and Simplex Data Solutions will provide the FAA with a powerful solution capable of detecting and preventing wireless attacks across multiple sites in the United States,” said AirDefense CEO Michael Potts. “The biggest challenge facing any government agency or corporation today is keeping mission critical documents secure as workforces take advantage of the many benefits of wireless connectivity.”

This is good news for AirDefense, but the company has been celebrating all month, Thanksgiving notwithstanding. Atlanta, Georgia-based VCs eHatchery and SYS Ventures recently injected $14 million in second round financing into the company. Expect to hear more about it soon.
