Brocade and Ciena Join Forces
The two companies are partnering and creating a SAN (Storage Area Network) to support organizations that have had business continuity disruptions
Brocade Communications Systems joined forces with Ciena Corporation to provide a Storage Area Network (SAN) that will support business continuity and disaster recovery for affected organizations. Each company possesses connectivity technology that will enhance the SAN extension solutions when combined.
The new support system joins Brocade 4Gbit/s SAN switches, which includes the SilkWorm 48000 SAN Director, with Ciena’s CN 2000 Storage Extension Platform or the CN 4200 FlexSelect Advanced Services Platform, to create an environment that allows firms to “implement high-performance links between remote sites while maximizing throughput and reducing WAN bandwidth costs.”
Brocade and Ciena’s 4G Fibre Channel (FC) Wave Division Multiplexing (WDM) solutions are already being used and operated by a North American retailer and an international financial institution.
