The 2nd Annual GovSec West Conference & Expo in Dallas, Texas, will be held 8-10 October. The organizers note that the event takes a comprehensive approach to securing the United States by providing security professionals from federal, state, and local government, as well as private corporations, with the tools, techniques, and strategies for critical infrastructure protection, border and physical security, preparing for and responding to disasters, preventing domestic and international terrorism, and protecting against cybercrime and cyberterrorism.

Psychology of Narcoterrorism: Understanding the Minds of Attackers (Tuesday, 9 October 2012, 16:30-17:30)

Narcoterrorism is an attempt of narcotics traffickers to shape the policies of a government or society through violence and coercion. To hinder the enforcement of the law and the administration of justice by systematic threats or violence. Psychological profiling of terrorists involves gathering and integrating data about factors such as their psychological health based on: 1) Motives; 2) Behaviors; 3) Social circumstances. In this session, the presenters will discuss what should really be analyzed, social networks, the threat posed/connected to protect communities, and emergency plans.

The speakers will be Robert Brzenchek, Emergency Management Regional Coordinator, ARNG-ODP (Contractor Systems Plus, Inc.), and Dale Yeager, CEO/Criminal Analyst, Seraph.
