Israeli-based DSIT Solutions Ltd. announced it secured orders for its diver detection sonar system for underwater security system needs.

DSIT Solutions, a subsidiary of Acorn Energy Inc., secured orders for $5 million worth of its AquaShield Diver Detection Sonar underwater site security systems. AquaShield is designed for deployment in the defense of national security interests in the underwater environments near power plants, ports, and energy terminals.

The diver detection sonar system employs long-range underwater security. The intruder detection system automatically classifies, tracks, and detects any alleged threat approaching a protected site.

DSIT said the system provides the longest range of underwater detection available, giving the technology an advantage in terms of response time.

Only upon classification and alarm does the security officer enter the picture,” said Dan Ben-Dov, DSIT’s vice president of marketing. “This is a major advantage we have over rival systems, which translates into much lower operating costs over time.”

The system uses radar surveillance as well as day/night cameras to provide total port security, DSIT said.
