The Canadian government is tightening security around government building is Ottawa and the surrounding area; their solution? The deterrent du jour: a fence
The Canadians are not taking any chances. The federal government has plans to build a fence around the building housing the Department of National Defense (DND’s) in downtown Ottawa. The fence will be put in place, along with barriers to prohibit vehicles from getting too close. “After 9/11, everybody realized that we have to have some security,” said military spokesman Colonel Claude Rochette. DND’s headquarters is located only less than a mile from Parliament Hill
