New York City’s security grants have been cut, but not those for chickens in Delaware

* New York City’s homeland security grants have been cut, but Delaware’s homeland security funding is about to increase. Government officials say the First State has been awarded a $670,000 grant, and that money will be used to help establish safety perimeters and security guidelines, as well as preparing the state to defend itself against an agriculture attack. “One of our greatest concerns lately is that we have more chickens per capita than any other county in America. The idea of making sure we don’t have an attack of Avian influenza,” said Senator Tom Carper. Amtrak’s also getting more than $7 million dollars to increase rail security.
