SafeNet shows new line of enterprise Ethernet encryptors
Metro Ethernet is increasingly popular among corporations and organizations, which means that it is used for an ever increasing volume of data — which means that the business of securing the data is becoming more urgent and more lucrative (another reason: Such transmission must comply with ever stricter security and privacy regulations)
Global spending on Metro Ethernet equipment nearly doubled last year to about $5 billion, according to market research group Infonetics Research, which also projects the market to triple by 2009. The reason: Metro Ethernet increasingly becomes the main enterprise technology for site-to-site communications. The steady growth in metro Ethernet means that there is a growing need for data security, both to ensure privacy and to comply with regulations.
Belcamp, Maryland-based SafeNet (NASDAQ: SFNT) hopes to ride this wave. The company has just launched a new line of SafeEnterprise Ethernet Encryptors aiming to secure Metro Ethernet communications. The SafeEnterprise family of Ethernet Encryptors have been developed specifically for financial, pharmaceutical, legal, government, and enterprise organizations needing to protect critical information.
