European security groups ranks the most prevalent 2005 viruses

Helsinki, Finland-based security group F-Secure each year lists the most common viruses of the year. The winner of 2005: The LovGate virus (first seen in May 2004), which made up 8.9 percent of those it observed online. In the rankings it was followed closely by Netsky.p (8.8 percent, March 2004), Mytob.x (8.2 percent, May 2005), Mytob.az (8.1 percent, May 2005), and Sober.y (7.4 percent, November 2005). A long way behind were other variants of Netsky and Mytob, with shares around the 2 percent mark. The volume peaked in June/July.
