Last November, the Inspector General (IG) at the U.S. Office of National Intelligence issued a report in which he highlighted ongoing problems inside ONI and the intelligence community, including poor communication, turf battles, incompatible computer systems, and mission confusion; last Friday, Dennis Blair, director of ONI, fired the IG

The director of the Office of National Intelligence (ONI), Dennis Blair, last Friday replaced his agency’s Inspector General. Justice Department official Roslyn Mazerby will take over for IG Edward Maguire on 24 April.

McGuire’s ousting comes on the heels of his testimony last week before the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence in which he discusses a report from last November that highlights ongoing problems inside ONI and the intelligence community, including poor communication, turf battles, incompatible computer systems, and mission confusion. Maguire’s testimony and his unclassified report can be found here on the House Intel Committee’s website.

ONI spokeswoman Wendy Morigi told CNN that Maguire’s departure has nothing to do with the report, but with Blair’s desire to install his own leadership team. Maguire has been with DNI since July 2005.
