Europe warms up to UAVs

UVAs are a big thing in the U.S., and the Europeans are becoming more and more interested as well

Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are a big issue not only in the United States, but in Europe as well. More than 300 delegates gathered in London last week here for a two day Shephard conference on “Tactical to Strategic UAV Technology: Network-enabled Capability and the Warfighter.” Speakers gathered to discuss and examine mainly European issues, with a theme emphasis on the increasingly important area of network interoperability — whether between coalition forces, or between underlying alliance structures.
