London transportation authorities improve control over and monitoring of vast underground rail system by installing improved signalling control from Thales

Metronet has awarded Thales a £10 million contract to supply a London underground depot with a new modular
interlocking system to improve signalling control. The LockTrac 6172 PMI will
allow the Neasden depot to set and confirm routes, manage train movement within
the depot, and control and monitor signalling assets. Paris’s metro network, RATP, has already deployed the interlocking
system, which will be installed as an overlay to the existing infrastructure at
the Neasden depot. The system is expected to become effective from late 2009.
