Energy futureGreen endurance race across Africa

An endurance car race in Africa in January will pit different alternative energy technologies against each other

So may be this is not Formula One or NASCAR, but still: On 9 January next year, a ten-day carbon-neutral road race will be held in Africa. Stretching 2,500 miles the Zero Rally will be open to electric, solar, biofuel, hybrid, and hyrdogen vehicles. The race concludes in Cape Town with a renewable energy expo.

The race is sponsored by Sir Ranulph Fiennes, the cousin of actors Joseph and Ralph Fiennes. He was the first man to visit both the north and south poles by land and the first man to cross the Antarctic by foot.
