Award follows news of Rapsican success; company will help integrate Threat Image Projection Ready X-ray systems into STIP network; when complete, approximately 1200 TRX systems will be on-line at eighty airports nationwide.

Update: We reported yesterday on Rapsican’s successs in winning a $13 million contract to help implement the Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA) Security Technology Integrated Program (STIP). Initiated in June, the program attempts to network all 13,000 to 15,000 airport X-ray machines and radiation and metal detectors through a centralized data processing center. The idea is to keep track of usage and maintenance issues, as well as facilitate regular software updates. Now we hear of another winning participant, Raytheon Technical Services. The Waltham, Massachusetts-based company has received a $3.7 million phase 1 contract to help integrate Threat Image Projection (TIP) Ready X-ray (TRX) systems into the network. When complete, approximately 1200 TRX systems will be on-line at eighty airports nationwide.
