The Criminal Justice Division at Fox Valley Technical College in Appleton, Wisconsin, has received some new technology that could help fight crime in Northeast Wisconsin.

The 3-D mapping system is called the Leica Geosystems Scanstation C10.

Fox11 reports that the technology allows law enforcement to take pictures, get accurate measurements, then put them into a computer to recreate a crime scene. The technology could be used in the courtroom to help jurors understand a case.

The mapping system could also be used for threat assessment, police-involved shootings, and crash investigations.
