Acxiom acquires Harbinger

Harbinger has developed a powerful search engine which, among other things, extracts and validates intelligence derived from foreign languages; the technology will enhance Acxiom’s offerings

Little Rock, Arkansa-based Acxiom Corporation (NASDAQ: ACXM) has acquired McLean, Virginia-based Harbinger Technologies Group, an ICx Technologies Company. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Harbinger is an international consulting and technology firm that develops software tools and training programs for personnel involved in homeland defense, national security, and the prevention of international terrorism. Acxiom will use Harbinger’s technologies and expertise to help commercial clients expand internationally. Harbinger will expand Acxiom’s products and services to the federal government intelligence and law enforcement markets.

Charles Morgan, Acxiom company leader, said that “This acquisition is a natural extension in our growth strategy for Acxiom’s risk mitigation business.” Jeff Chapman, Harbinger’s CEO, said that “Our combined knowledge of the risk industry and national security opportunities will be a tremendous asset to federal, state and local law enforcement officials.”

Acxiom was founded in 1969. It integrates data, services, and technology to create and deliver customer and information management solutions for many companies around the world. The core components of Acxiom’s solutions are Customer Data Integration (CDI) technology, data, database services, IT outsourcing, consulting and analytics, and privacy leadership.

Harbinger was founded in 2004 as a consulting and training company focused on homeland security and international counterterrorism. The company has developed propriety search technologies aimed at providing customers with methods of analyzing their data and understanding the connections within the data.
