BAE Systems has been selected as one of the prime Information Technology vendors for the FBI’s largest-ever Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity contract, potentially valued as high as $30 billion.
The IDIQ, known as Information Technology Supplies and Support Services, allows chosen companies to bid on IT work for the FBI or other offices in the Department of Justice.
“BAE Systems won this opportunity because of our reputation as a customer-focused company,” said Tom Sechler, a vice president and general manager in the company’s Intelligence & Security business sector. “We’ve been providing IT support and services to the FBI for almost two decades. That makes us uniquely qualified to understand and provide technology systems and services to the Bureau.”
The 8-year effort entails a range of task orders that will ultimately allow the FBI successfully to complete its mission as one of the largest law enforcement agencies in the world. The work covers a variety of services, including hardware/software and related services, operations and maintenance, technical and development.
As a prime vendor, BAE Systems is leading a team comprised of 1-Source Consulting, Alliance Micro, Athena Sciences Corp., e-SCI Corp., Innovative Management & Technology Services LLC, Inquiries Inc., Mainstreet Technologies Inc., Octo Consulting Group, Solutions3 LLC, Powertek, and U.S. International Inc.
The company supports the FBI’s Information Technology Branch at its Washington headquarters, providing engineering, information assurance and management services. It also has teams in place at the FBI complex at Quantico, Virginia, working in different units at the Operational Technology Division, and is beginning new work at the Laboratory Division. In West Virginia, BAE Systems supports the Bureau’s Criminal Justice Information Services Division, which includes the Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System, the National Crime Information Center and the National Instant Criminal Background Check System.
