TSA relaxes background security checks rule for airport employees

There is such a backlog of requests for background security checks for applicants for airport jobs, that the Transportation Security Administration now allows employers at airports to hire people without security checks. Federal officials say the relaxation of the background check rule is the result of a backlog in the screening process, but TSA did not say how many airports have taken advantage of the change and given workers preliminary clearance, or how long employees can work without full security clearance.
