A case of contemporary spillover effect

During the cold war days they used to speak of spillover effect: The United States was benefiting twice from high defense budgets: The country was well defended; and, owing to spillover, many military technologies found their way to the civilian markets, supporting products and solutions which made life easier and more comfortable. Here is a case of a contemporary spillover. Asheville, North Carolina-based Homeland Integrated Security Systems (OTC: HISC) developed its Cyber Tracker for homeland security purposes, but numerous television news reports — in St. Louis, Houston, Dallas, Seattle, and Boise — demonstrated how the Cyber Tracker could help parents keep track of their teenage children’s whereabouts, for example, by monitoring how fast they drive the family car, whether they go into prohibited areas, and more.
