The Chinese city of Luoyang has paid $456,000 for a jet engine powered water cannon; the cannon, designed for fighting high-rise fires, is capable of spraying four tons of water per minute — fast enough to separate fires from their oxygen supply

Built to battle skyscraper fires, the new Chinese jet-propelled water cannon is the latest piece of machinery of China’s Luoyang City fire department. It is made from a jet-fighter engine and is capable of spraying four tons of water per minute.

GizChina reports that the price tag is $456,000, but firefighters say it is worth it as the water is said to blast fast enough to separate fires from their oxygen supply. It has a range of almost 400 feet and can rotate a near-full 360 degrees.
