On Wednesday CSC announcedthat it had won an $86 million task order from DHS to continue providing emergency priority telecommunication services for the agency.

Under the contract, CSC will provide engineering, planning, implementation, communications; and operations and maintenance support for the priority telecommunications services of the National Communications System.

More specifically, their work is designed to give local, state, and federal officials as well as other critical personnel priority access to phone lines during times of crises when heavy call volume usually makes it nearly impossible to dial out.

CSC is proud to support the Department of Homeland Security’s efforts to ensure emergency access and priority processing to authorized National Security/Emergency Preparedness communications users,” said Mike Gaffney, the president of CSC’s Civil Group. “CSC will provide reliable priority telecommunications in support of the overall safety of the nation, especially in emergencies, crises and times of war.”

The contract comes in response to a White House order to ensure that authorized National Security/Emergency Preparedness personnel are able to effectively communicate and operate during major disasters or terrorist attacks.

CSC is an international firm headquartered in Falls Church, Virginia with offices in Australia, Asia, and Europe. The company specializes in developing technological, industry-specific solutions for its clients.
