Implant selects Columbia Tech to manufacture Quantum Sniffer

Published 7 March 2006

Wakefield, Massachusetts-based Implant Sciences (AMEX: ‘IMX’, ‘IMX.WS’) named Worcester, Massachusetts-based Columbia Tech as Implant’s exclusive contract manufacturer of the Quantum Sniffer H-100 handheld explosives detection device. The Company believes the benefits of this strategic alliance with Columbia Tech are: (i) the turnkey production planning, materials acquisition, and supplier and inventory management available through Columbia Tech, (ii) the control over final production calibration, final testing and field service retained by Implant Sciences, and (iii) the potential for significant labor and overhead cost reductions in the handheld explosives detector manufacturing process. The arrangement will result in significantly lowering the handheld explosives detection equipment manufacturing costs. In addition, the virtual manufacturing model and extensive supply chain Columbia Tech brings to the table would enable Implant to adapt rapidly to the growing and event-driven homeland security market.
