Three different models receive cerification; though late in the game, Ingersoll believes its multitechnology approach provides a strong market advantage

Forestville, Connecticut-based Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies has announced that three of its multitechnology card reader models — the Schlage Mullion reader, the Mid-Range reader, and the Keypad reader — have been deemed FIPS 201 compliant by the federal government. In addition to reading approved FIPS 201 PIV II credentials, these flexible readers are also compatible with many standard proximity and leading smart card technologies. Though late to the game, Ingersoll Rand believes its standards agnostic approach will make it an important player moving forward. “A mixed population of old proximity credentials and new PIV II credentials will be unavoidable during the government’s multiyear upgrade path to FIPS 201 compliance,” said the company’s Felix Mira.
