Kentucky’s Office of Homeland Security (KOHS) recently released an iPhone app designed to allow people to anonymously report any suspicious activity they see; the app, called, Eyes and Ears on Kentucky, captures tips in real-time and is capable of providing additional information using the iPhone’s camera and GPS features; the app comes as part of the broader national DHS “See Something Say Something” campaign which will gather tips from across the nation and allow local, state, and federal law enforcement officials to sift through reports of any suspicious activity

Kentucky’s Office of Homeland Security (KOHS) recently releasedp an iPhone app designed to allow people to anonymouslyreport any suspicious activity they see.

The app, called, Eyes and Ears on Kentuckyp, captures tips in real-time and is capable of providing additional information using the iPhone’s camera and GPS features.

In a statement, Gene Kiser, the acting executive director of KOHS, said, “Our office is dedicated to protecting the Commonwealth and the iPhone application is the latest step in our continued effort. By putting this technology in citizens’ hands it will allow KOHS to receive the most current data on threats.”

KOHS is encouraging citizens to report people engaging in any suspicious activity including people taking photos or videos of buildings, asking detailed questions about public transportation, and loitering near critical infrastructure.

The app was developed in conjunction with state employees who helped build the Kentucky.gov website.

The app comes as part of the broader national DHS “See Something Say Something” campaign which will gather tips from across the nation and allow local, state, and federal law enforcement officials to sift through reports of any suspicious activity.
